You have all been a new neighbour at one time of your life, moving into a new street is exciting, daunting and slightly stressful at times. As the newbie on the street, there is nothing more welcoming and reassuring than a kind gesture or even a helpful hand with those heavy boxes. We have put together a fun and friendly list of ways that you can welcome your new neighbours, the Anthony Pepe way!
Gifts
Welcoming your new neighbours with a gift is a lovely gesture but if you are unsure of what to send over the fence there are several options on your doorstep. Not the best at baking? It’s ok to cheat and use your local bakery to treat your new neighbours. Gail’s Artisan Bakery and Dunns Bakery are firm favourites at Anthony Pepe, whilst you are sending your neighbour some of their fresh delicacies feel free to also drop some into our office! Alternatively, you could choose to send your new neighbour a beautiful bunch of fresh flowers from your local florist, The Urban Flower, who doesn’t love opening the door to a mystery bunch of flowers? You’ll be their favourite neighbours in no time. If you want to splash out you can always pop to your local wine shop and hope that your neighbours invite you into sharing a bottle to toast their new house and your new friendship. Prohibition Wines and Majestic Wine are just a couple specialist retailers that can help you choose the perfect bottle.
Essentials
When you first move in finding out the essentials often slips your mind, these days there are so many rubbish collection and recycling services it’s easy to get lost, your neighbour will appreciate the heads up on what day is what and which bin is which we can assure you of that!To give your new neighbours a helping hand with their new area you can jot down the basics, it might be more useful that you think! Help fill their fridge by telling them of their local supermarkets and delivery services, Ocado, Sainsburys, Tescos, Waitrose, and Thornton’s Budgens are all nearby and offer home delivery. Remember those takeaway menus that you have stuffed away in a drawer? Well, they are about to come in very useful. Who wants to cook when you first move in? Pop these menus to your neighbour and save their potential dinner disaster, you can even tell them your favourite places to eat!
Community
We’ve covered your full supermarket shop but what about your local place to pop for the paper or pint of milk? At Anthony Pepe, we always support our local community and invite you to say yes to local by using your local shops, businesses, and even food markets wherever possible. Show your new neighbour where your “locals” are this can include, schools, shops, restaurants and even pubs, after all once they have successfully moved in they might want to celebrate with a relaxing drink at their new local. If you are a part of any community projects or events invite your neighbours old or new to enjoy what your area has to offer.
Property is the base of our business but ultimately it’s the people who buy and sell their houses who make Anthony Pepe what it is today. It becomes less about property and more about supporting communities through advice, sponsorship and most importantly friendship. We hope that we have given you some inspiration to welcome your new neighbours, if you are looking to buy or sell your home please contact one of our branches today.
