We hope you have been enjoying your summer so far but it’s not over yet! August is filled with fun, family entertainment from festivals to the Olympics, you are literally spoilt for choice of how to spend your summer in London. August also welcomes a much-needed bank holiday, we know it’s been a while since you were treated to a 3 day weekend but your next fix is just around the corner and trust us, staying in is not an option! Summer of fun in Haringey

Throughout London, Haringey has been hosting a range of activities for children and young people as part of their Summer of Fun campaign and the entertainment continues into August and September. From sports to soft play you are sure to find something that your little monsters can get their teeth into and these programs are running at various venues across the borough. It’s not just sport that dominates the summer activities the creatives courses look particularly fun such as, theatre, cookery and arts and crafts. Alexandra Palace

You can’t live in North London and not love Alexandra Palace, especially this August, in fact, this summer you can spend almost every weekend at the Palace enjoying any of its exciting events. The Luna Cinema is the UK’s number 1 outdoor cinema and it returns to the grounds surrounding Alexandra Palace on the 6th – 7th August screening Star Wars the Force and Labyrinth. Some of the Anthony Pepe team can often be found here enjoying their favourite films in this unique setting. During the last two weekends in August, it’s all about food at the Palace with the Street Food & Craft Beer Festival on the 20th – 21st and the Foodies Festival on the 27th – 29th. Join your local community, celebrating two of the best food festivals in London. Before the new school year starts you should check out Explore, Craft & Skate from the 23rd August – 1st September, you and your family are invited to try your hand at map-reading around the park, animal-themed arts and crafts inspired by the Victorians, followed by an hour of skating fun!

51st State Festival

Head north on Saturday 6th August to the stunning Trent Park for the 51st State Festival. After its sold-out debut last summer, the festival returns with an impressive programme of house music from the UK, US and Caribbean. You can find the line-up, ticket details and after party locations online.

Olympics

Are you excited for the Olympics? Well, just because you’re not in Rio it doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on the atmosphere, you can now experience all of the action at Team GB’s official Fan Zone. BeachEast will host the largest fan zone in the whole of the UK showing live coverage of the Games, an opportunity not to be missed and what’s more, it’s free! In addition to the various sporting events, you can enjoy live performances and music as well as workshops and activities to keep you occupied as you cheer on Team GB.

Totally Thames

Looking into September the River Thames is brought to life through an exciting season of arts, cultural and river events. Totally Thames, stretches 42 miles along London’s most famous River with a programme aspiring to bring awareness to the multiple attractions along the Thames. You may live in London but this event will open your eyes to the wonderful treasures that are hidden throughout our city.

ArcelorMittal Orbit

Thrill seekers are in for a treat if you haven’t had a go already, the ArcelorMittal Orbit needs to be added to your bucket list this summer. As well 20-mile views over Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the London Skyline the experience now includes a hair-raising slide! At 178m it’s the world’s highest tunnel slide that lasts just 40 seconds. Since opening in 2012 the ArcelorMittal Orbit has attracted visitors from all over the world and now they can enjoy spectacular views as they loop around this iconic structure back to earth. Who fancies a ride? We certainly do!
