It might be June, a month for barbeques, paddling pools and beer gardens but it seems that the weather has other ideas! As the rain pitter-patters on the windows at Anthony Pepe we have decided that we refuse to let this dreary weather get us down, focusing on what’s coming up in Haringey, Alexandra Palace is here to brighten up your summer! The iconic north London venue offers a variety of events, things to do and fun days out throughout the year but July and August are looking particularly exciting. ‘Community’ is always at the heart of Anthony Pepe and these summer events at Alexandra Palace perfectly encompass the essence of ‘togetherness’ in North London.
Summer Festival
On Saturday 23rd July the Summer Festival arrives at the palace grounds, bringing with it live music, an outdoor cinema, a giant water slide, and hopefully some sun! The festival is free to enter and will be a fantastic day out for you and your friends, family or work mates. Covering 196 acres of the park at Alexandra Palace and panoramic views of London it’s not just the local community who will be enjoying the popular festival, visitors from all over the UK are invited to join in the fun. Known as ‘the people’s palace’ Ally Pally hosts an eclectic mix of live music sports and cultural events each year but the Summer Festival has to be our favourite!
As you enter the park you are spoilt for choice with what to do first; experience the silent disco, enjoy a family rave or grab a bite to eat from the street food stalls. There is also 3 live music stages showcasing the best of live music by bands from across the UK. We also can’t forget to mention the return of the giant waterslide! Grab your bathers and a dingy and head down this exhilarating 100-meter slide, named as one of Time Out London’s best things to do in 2015. After all of that excitement, what better way to wind down than to watch the sun set over London followed by a classic movie? Found on the south slope the outdoor cinema will be showing the much-loved family film, E.T – The Extra Terrestrial, a perfect end to your day. Some of our team will be joining the thousands of people making the most of their summer at Alexandra Park this year, it’s sure to be a great day!
Street Food & Craft Beer Festival
You might have already attended Ally Pally’s food and beer festival this summer as they have been taking place since the end of May and will be continuing until late August. This weekend treat is an absolute must, just talking about the stalls and traders makes us hungry! Opening from 11am until late you can indulge in London’s best street foods, our favourites have to be Howlin Dogs and Candidonut! Alongside the endless list of eclectic food stalls are 20 craft and cask beer brands who have been chosen to join in the celebrations. In July and August, local breweries Beavertown and Redemption both from nearby Tottenham will showcase their tipples. As you tuck into your freshly cooked cuisine and take a swig of your favoured craft beer you can enjoy live music and special guests all in the setting of the beautiful Alexandra Palace. The next festivals will take place on 23rd and 24th July and 20th and 21st August, you’ll have a great time!
