At Anthony Pepe we follow the rule that once we have celebrated Bonfire night we are then, and only then, allowed to talk about the last and often everyone’s favourite holiday, Christmas! Although we might have to wait a while before our decorations go up it doesn’t mean that we can’t get in to the Christmas spirit in other ways. Tradition may dictate your Christmas rituals and although it seems that many of us wait to transform our homes into a stylish Santa’s grotto, Christmas Markets have already open their doors.
Our European neighbours have kindly introduced us to the tradition of a Christmas Market, originating in Germany and France to celebrate the four weeks of Advent. Yes, Advent isn’t just opening a little door to release a chocolate every day on the countdown to Christmas, it’s a four week-long celebration! Although the name’s may change from country to country people are now travelling each winter to discover a new Christmas Market, each community welcomes visitors to experience their take on the traditional food and drink stalls, decorations and of course festive singing.
There is nothing better to get you into the season of goodwill than a Christmas Market; before you buy your customary conifer or pour a glass of mulled wine we have a selection of local Christmas Markets for you and your family to enjoy.
We know it’s not just us who enjoy an exciting Christmas themed shopping event, back by popular demand the Islington Christmas Market returns to the Islington Green in December. Growing each year, the market now presents over 60 handpicked exhibitors from all over the UK, the revamped market brings you a refreshing alternative to Christmas gift shopping. Food is also a large part of our Christmas and your family are no dubitably the same, fresh warm mince pies will flow through Islington Green for two whole weeks and it promises to be quite an occasion.
If you have already visited Tottenham’s Green Market you will know that the community are coming together every week to share their delicious street food as well as homemade arts and crafts. As part of a Christmas special the Market will be turning from green into an explosion of Christmas colours and treats. Come and join us in being entertained as we indulge in some much needed Christmas spirit.
Straight out of the pages of a Country Living magazine comes the Christmas fair that runs from 15 November at the BDC in Islington. Discover unique gifts as you meet the makers, designers and artisans who will be inspiring your look for Christmas whilst adding a touch of sparkle to your home. The fair’s lively programme includes, decorations, interiors, food and fashion, creating a magical Christmas atmosphere for you and your family. As well as shopping there will also be a Christmas Theatre, Codorniu Bar and a VIP Experience.
Winter Warmers: Christmas Fair
It doesn’t get much more traditional than an afternoon joining the Union Chapel for a spot of Christmas shopping, festive singing and of course a few mince pies! If your voice isn’t quite up to Mariah Carey level the Union Chapel singers will be showing you how it’s done throughout the day as you enjoy the stalls, games and a visit from Father Christmas himself. If that’s not enough there will be a screening of “It’s A Wonderful Life” in the candle lit chapel, ensuring that you are well and truly ready for the excitement of Christmas.
Join your neighbours as they support and embrace one of our local Christmas Markets, also be sure to pop into one of our branches to spread your Christmas cheer. If you are looking to move home during this busy time of year, don’t be put off by the distractions of Christmas, our teams are here to ensure your move runs smoothly no matter the time of year.
